Title

The Present as the Becoming of Ideals : On Ryukichi Endo's Becoming-ism Philosophy

Bibliography Type

Sole Author

Summary

The ancient philosopher Heraclitus preached the "panta rhei" by comparing the flow of life itself to the "flow of the river." Ryukichi Endo puts this concept at the core of his ideological consequence, the "philosophy of life". However, the substance of the philosophy remains unclear. In this paper, I tried to find the beginning of the elucidation. In the philosophy of life principle, it is important to see the appearance as "life itself" (at the same time, the present as its development). It is perceived as the "fact" of the universe that embraces human life, natural life, and even the gods. Regarding that fact, it is said that philosophy sees itself as a manifestation of "ideal". The life itself is the origin of the gods, and at the same time it is the ideal of the gods and the manifestation of our ideal (presentation). Rawism therefore argues that it must aim to realize each person's ideals that can be found based on the philosophical perceptions of each person living in the present.
