According to a national policy, it had been decided to provide high schools and other schools with an in-school LAN and PC terminals for students by FY2023. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ICT-based learning and instruction became necessary, and the target was almost achieved by FY2020. On the other hand, the percentage of teachers using ICT in their lectures was found to be the lowest among OECD countries. In addition, ICT may not be used much in certain areas of commercial education. We conducted a questionnaire survey of teachers in Chiba Prefecture to clarify the actual situation regarding the classroom use of ICT in commercial education, and to discuss the possibility of new teaching methods in commercial education.
The results of the questionnaire revealed that the rate and frequency of ICT use by both teachers and students varied depending on the field and subject. In addition, it is possible that only some applications are used and only certain ICT utilization methods are used.
Based on the above, it is necessary to realize the active use of ICT in classroom lectures, to accurately assess teachers’ ability to teach the use of ICT, and to create content that supports commercial education.
