The diffusion of sustainable business models that not only pursue profit but also have the mission of contributing to society and the environment will increase the benefits to society as a whole. By analyzing seven cases of renewable energy projects led by or benefiting local communities, I attempt to develop a sustainable business model diffusion theory among different organizations. The sustainable business models in the precedent cases were not directly adopted by other sustainable entrepreneurs but were referred to by the components that made up the business model. The components were mutually influenced by each other and changed, and a sustainable entrepreneur constructs a new sustainable business model to fit the local business environment.
