This presentation seeks to elucidate the significance and future direction of studies on environmental management control by examining the research in this field. Relevant studies have developed over three periodic divisions emphasizing 1) definitions of concepts, 2) the integration of formal and informal systems, and 3) interactions. This study asserts that 1)the development of the cases on interaction use, in doing so 2)strengthen the foundation of the theory in integration of formal and informal systems-driven studies, and finally 3)there has been a reconstruction of the meaning of Environmental Manegement Control concept.
