Summary

In the final approach of the vertical landing after the hovering by the vehicle such as S/VTOL airplane, helicopter or UAV, the pilot often cannot check the target landing point directly. When assisted by only the narrow monitor display directed to the target point, the pilot cannot perform an optimal vertical landing. In order to perform the safe and optimal landing, various numerical information and prospects on the motion of the vehicle should be informed to the pilot. As assistance to the maneuvers on vertical landing, the guidance system should also project the prospective trajectory for landing and other candidates. Such prospective trajectories are displayed with the enhanced viewing projection composed by the numerical data as 3-Dimensional Computer Graphics. This paper shows a prototype of such display system for vertical landing and reports the preliminary experiences of the system.
