How the Edo Bakufu Established the Yushima Confucius Temple

The Yushima Seido temple and school, founded in 1690, was influenced by the interactions the shogun Tsunayoshi had with the third head of the Hayashi school, Hayashi Hoko, as revealed in writings by Hoko and others during the period.
